THE WOOZY LIFE

GOODBYE WOOZYLIFE HELLO MAHFIA!

Check out the new new MAHFIA.COM . This has been a project of mine in the works for oh about…my whole life. Always knew I was going to start my own business since high school and well that time is finally here! The teaser site for MAHFIA.COM launched February 2010 and things have been moving forward at lighting speed ever since. I don’t have too much time to update WoozyLife anymore so these pages will just have to serve as a time capsule for 2009. If MAHFIA.COM doesn’t work out, woozylife is back on! Just kidding.

MAHFIA.COM is a lifestyle videozine that will be like nothing you’ve ever seen before. I’d try to put it in words but I’m a visual person so you’ll just have to watch it unfold and take some wild guesses until the full launch this June.

For now, here are all the clues…

I logged onto the iTunes store homepage today and this is what I was greeted with. I honestly don’t care to comment on celebrities at all but I actually enjoyed Mr. Mayer when I was like 17 (I was a teenage girl living in suburbia, so sue me!) so I feel a tiny bit compelled to express my opinion here. By the way any girl is lying if they say they didn’t secretly like “your body is a wonderland” a little bit).

But honestly John Mayer, you went from every teenage girls dream boyfriend to a man whore who whines into a mic with this guitar. I would categorize your stylist’ attempt to make your hair look like the vampire dude from twilight as a FAIL and your song with Taylor Swift is pretty fuckin horrible. Ps why are you categorized under “rock” in iTunes? Your latest album can hardly be considered rock…if anything, they should merge soft rock and complaint rock and you would fit under “soft complaint rock”. Or maybe they should just make a new category called “over it” and file your last album there.

Sorry for being harsh but I’m just bummed that actually used to like you.

Last friday was the “Elektro” premier party european tour kick off at Subway Club, Cologne, Germany. I rolled with Vera to the premier and It was crazy good times. These kids know how to party, for real. I shot video and my buddy Jon edited this little number together in one day.

CHROMEO = OUTTA SIGHT

Chromeo is the shit. If you disagree then I don’t think I can be friends with you. If you don’t know who they are, click on the link. You will be glad you did.

Anyway, on Friday night I rolled up to LA with my friend Julie for a fun filled evening of stunna shades and dancing. It was my homeboy Jonny V’s bday weekend so we met up with his crew from long beach in downtown LA, where Chromeo played at Club 740. Being the wise and responsible adults we are now, we got a hotel room because you don’t have to be a genius to figure out that you can get about 20 hotel rooms for the price of one DUI. On a quick sidenote, while searching for a hotel in downtown LA I came across the most hilarious hotel review I’ve ever seen on tripadvisor: here are the highlights:

“+Do you wish to be robbed?
+Do you want to hear women screaming for help at night?
+Do you want to live next to stinking persons?
+Do you want to sleep in a very dirt place?
+Do you want to share your bathroom with 20 other people?
+Do you want to share your TOILET with more then 20 people?
+Do you want to watch gang activities at night?
+Do you want to be asked for crack, heroin and cocaine in FRONT of the hotel?
+Do you want to take a walk on streets that smells bad because of URINE?
+Do you want to live in a room WITHOUT cooler or EVEN without a fan?

+DO YOU WANT TO LOOSE MONEY?
YES??? = Then
*****WELCOME TO THE CECIL HOTEL!*****”

Hilarious. This guy should get paid to write hotel reviews. Thank god for tripadvisor!

Anyway, so we ended up getting a room at the Westin downtown, no complaints for 80 bucks. Inside the lobby is a mini mall with a mini food court area with a mini offering of edible cuisine. Unfortunately we had no real choice but to eat here since getting in a car to go anywhere in LA at 5:30pm on a friday is a guaranteed horrible idea.

After feasting on our gourmet meals, we met up with the rest of the party posse and began the celebration.

The show was amazing. Something about Chromeo just gets your limbs moving…well Chromeo and a bottle of patron. If you ever get a chance to see them, you will not be disappointed.

I went to the snoop and slightly stoopid concert last nite with my homies Dan, Jen and Julie. It was amazing of course. Wasn’t expecting anything less. I’ve seen both snoop and ss before but not together…such a genius combination. Highlight of the show was for sure snoop playing “hail mary” and giving tupac mad love… definitely still feelin a little woozy this morning.

oh no, big snoop dogg back up in the heazy

BILLABONG DESIGN FOR HUMANITY

This past Wednesday, despite going against my strong policy of driving up to LA twice in one week (the rage I get from sitting in LA traffic seriously takes years off my life) I cruised back up to Hollywood for Billabong’s “Design For Humanity” event at The Avalon. I met up with my friend Val from Spy Optic along with her roommate Ashmore and we carpooled up from Oside. In LA, we met up with my friend Jenn, who works for E! as well as Kailee from Transworld Biz. Despite my deep hatred for the LA scene, I have to say we had a great time. Billabong put on an awesome event – fashion show/concert/party – all for charity. I will also add that they did a killer job with the whole marketing campaign for the event as well – loved the graphics, ads, video teasers, etc, etc. and yes, I still hate LA.

TRANSWORLD SKATE AWARDS

Last friday Osiris sponsored the after party for the 11th annual Transworld Skate Awards in Hollywood, CA at the Avalon Theater. My buddy James came along with me to experience the mayhem and mayhem it was. A skateboarding award show is not complete without tall boy PBRs, girls showing their tits on stage and enough cigarette smoke to give the population of a small country lung cancer. However it was of course good times as I ran into some friends and familiar faces, like our ex-skate team manager Mr. Coung. The highlight of the night was definitely seeing the LA pro hos mingling with a bunch of dirty skateboarders…I dont know, something about coked out/face painted on girls in four inch heels and greasy dudes in flannels and beanies at the same party makes for great entertainment.

The theme of the after party was none other than Mr. Corey Duffel (osiris team rider and all around awesome guy). We decked out the after party venue with portraits of Corey and Corey’s girlfriend’s band (mister loveless) performed. The only thing radder than being a girl in a band of dudes is being the girl in a band of dudes who is the drummer…sick! Corey and his girlfriend Rachel are cool ass people and same goes with Shuriken and his girl Ashley. Props to them for contradicting the dirtbag skateboarder stereotype, they are pretty much the exact opposite of that. Oh yes and props to my marketing buddy William who pimped out the after party venue…genius Will, genius. Fun times in Hollywood but I still hate LA.
